I JUST "DISCOVERED" YOU ON THE LARRY HUGHS SHOW, AND WAS RIVITED TO THE RADIO AS YOU SPOKE OF ALL THE OLD SHOWS. I GREW UP ON ALL THESE SHOWS, HAVING BEEN BORN IN '29 SO AM THRILLED TO HAVE FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS. I HAVE ALERTED MY FRIENDS, WHOM I'M SURE WILL ENJOY IT ALSO. I EVEN REMEMBER THE TUNE THAT WAS PLAYED BEFORE THE LET'S PRETEND SHOW.I WOULD COME HOME FROM SCHOOL, TO HEAR MY MOM LISTENING TO BACKSTAGE WIFE, OR MA PERKINS, or Helen Trent. WHAT MEMORIES.

Hello, I have recently been researching my mother's early career in show business. Her name was Helen Strohm and at one time she played little Kathy (Kitten) on the radio version of Father Knowss Best. My Mother had some of the old photo's from the show that were lost in a fire. One of those photos I would dearly love to find was a classic pic of Robert Young sitting in his easy chair with my mom on his knee reading the paper. I would also like to hear from anyone that was involved in the show. My mom was also in Abbott & Costello go to Mars and the original My Blue Heaven with Betty Grable. I just think it would be great to talk to someone who might remember my mom. Respectfully, Bradley Davis 503-739-0708

Hi
I am now 80 years old, but got my start in radio at WGY, Schenectady when I was 16. I had a mature resonant voice and Earl Pudny hired me. I did Esso News and also was on the FBI show. I was wondering if you might be able to find pictures back about 1941 or so of the FBI show. I had a lot of great memories. Went on from there to New York later on and spent over 50 years as an announcer on TV and radio at several stations throughout the country. I also did some acting. My mentor was Charles Coburn whofirst saw me in a play at theSchenectady Playhouse. He was putting on plays at Union College.
Thank you for tuning me in.

Dear LET'S PRETEND!!!! As a little boy in the 1940's THAT was the one radio station that I wouldn't miss with the CREAM OF WHEAT jingle. I still kow it by heart. Would love to know more about GWYNN DAVIES. I always remember her for some reason. Radio was so good compared to the terrible junk on TV nowadays. BOB

Barbara Barclay

Just found your sight. Love it. I grew up listening to radio and have fond memories. Am tryin to find out if anyone has news of Miriam Ross. She was on Let's Pretend and many other shows. Palayed losts of witches becuase of her mature voice. Thanks for any inf.

As a young boy and man I listened to Radio all the time. I gor into the Recording business and finaly worked at WOR in New York. The actual studio where the Shadow came from. Knew many of the old time Engineers and Sound Effects Engineers.

Roger Smith

As a boy of four, I first saw Clyde Beatty in person with his act of lions and tigers, in Tyler, Texas. I came in from school to listen to his radio show over the Mutual network, at 5:30 pm, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, brought to us by Kellogg's. The cast was uncredited. I later knew Vic Perrin, who played Beatty in all 52 episodes on radio. Later, I worked for Mr. Beatty in 1964, as his assistant and apprentice. He remains among the best men I've known. God rest him, and God bless Old Time Radio. Roger Smith

Ingrid Meighan Waldron

Hi again Bill,
I'm looking forward to this Sunday, May 1, and will try to make it a habit (don't get a chance to hear the voice of my father, Jim Meighan, in 3 shows! He died in 1970.)
Have updated the Real Player in anticipation. Super! And keep it up!
